DIY greenhouse made from old windows — YOTD

Today’s Yard of the Day comes to us from France, where Flickr user hardworkinghippy re-purposed several old windows to create a charming little greenhouse in her likely-better-than-my-own-if-only-because-it’s-located-in-France backyard. “Serre pas chère” the title reads, which, according to Babel Fish, translates to “Do not tighten expensive.”  I’ll take that to mean this was a frugal — yet highly creative — project.  See a photo taken from a different angle here.

If you’d like to submit a photo of your yard to be considered as a YOTD, simply join our Flickr group, Yardhacker’s Yard of the Day, and add your photo.  If you want.  No pressure.  Really.

Archipod backyard office makes us drool

Backyard offices aren’t new, but it’s not often you see designs carried out as well as the UK’s Archipod (pronounced ark-ee-pod).  The structure’s unique shape isn’t just aesthetically pleasing; the shingled dome’s design actually gives the illusion of being larger on the inside than the outside would suggest.  The pod is priced at roughly £12,000 and only available in the UK, so it looks like we’ll be waiting for the do-it-yourself kit.  Click through for more photos.
